Environmental Footprint

Environmental protection and pollution prevention have always been an important component in the management strategy of LCY Chemical in view of our commitment to environmental protection and implementing EHS policies. Regulatory compliance is only the minimum criteria for environmental concerns we impose on ourselves. We have made comprehensive planning and installed pollution control facilities, including air pollution control equipment, wastewater treatment system, wastewater recycling equipment, waste sorting and storage facilities, noise control equipment and groundwater monitoring equipment. We continuously upgrade the efficiency of our equipment and take actions to minimize the impact of our operations and emissions/discharges on the environment, while working on waste reduction at the sources and promoting the effective use of resources. To urge on EPA's regulation of increasing the reduction volume of total emission control by 5% for the Total Air Pollutant Emission Controlling Plan of Stationary Sources in Kaohsiung and Pingtung assigned in phase 1, our concrete measures are focused on decreasing the electric power consumption in process and gradually economizing on heavy oil to achieve eco-friendly as well as reduce environmental impact.

GHG Emissions Inventory and Carbon Footprints

LCY Chemical has been undertaking GHG emissions inventory projects since 2004 and implementing the greenhouse gas inventory management system and obtaining ISO14064-1 verification for greenhouse gases since 2009.

After the implementation of GHG emissions inventory system, all LCY sites have conducted inventories of carbon emissions during the life cycle of products produced. This includes carbon emission generated during raw material acquisition, manufacturing process, and transportation. All product carbon footprint reports produced by LCY sites are verified by the British Standards Institution in accordance with PAS 2050. In line with LCY's goals for low carbon, energy saving and environmental protection, we will continue to seek innovation in product and process development and nurture new talents for domestic green industry. Aside from adopting the practice of product carbon footprints, we will also promote product water footprints in view of the threats brought about by global climate change and the shortage of natural resources. We endeavor to measure the water consumption index of our products and our operations using a quantitative approach to reduce our dependence on water.
